About ME - Introduction

I've just had to give up my previous Website 'Parnas-sus.com' as it was becoming too difficult to manage. A petty as my niece Astrid Kuenne did such a fantastic job at designing it for me. So here I am back to my my old Blogsite 'Ramblings' and perhaps in the future I'll change the name to something more exciting. But the meaning of this word does capture my intention....


'If you describe a speech or piece of writing as someone's ramblings, you are saying that it is meaningless because the person who said or wrote it was very confused or insane'

However, for me it is more about having the freedom to write on any subject that comes to mind, a poem, a song, a narrative, a personal story etc.....without a time sequence. A friend of mine refers to these stories as 'Vignettes'...quite like the comparison.



'A vignette is a short description, picture, or piece of acting which expresses very clearly and neatly the typical characteristics of the thing that it represents.'

All the stories are valuable, but because of the changing dynamics of our life experiences, they seem to capture random episodes that make up our life story.

I am closing in on 78 yrs of LIFE...and it is a miracle that I've been able to live this long when I see so many of my friends leaving this earthly plane much sooner. I guess it will continue to happen as the years roll by. I like to call myself an Elder..rather than an 'old person' as I believe that age can mature our wisdom. 

Since I was a child I have loved the art of storytelling through narrative, song and poetry and am trying to write new material, as well post old material hanging around on paper in folders. I have been a ballet dancer, singer, educator, artist , writer and seeker of truth, and in recent years a gardener.

I have had a long history of illness, but each new year I've been blessed with better health. I now don't feel so uniquely different to other 'elders' around the same age-group, as we all seem to be struggling in one way or another with mobility impairment and other health related problems, including memory loss.

In Feb 2015 I moved from Ipswich, QLD to the Sunshine Coast, QLD and have been enjoying this new landscape immensely. There have been many opportunites to ride my mobility scooter along the foreshore of Pumiston Passage, swimming the ocean pool at King's Beach, visit the friendly shopping centre of Golden Beach and Caloundra, and enjoy mingling with the holiday visitors and locals who have the time to chat. I also joined the Caloundra Art Centre to keep up with my Art practice, and a Book Review group where we discuss any book that inspires us or not...keeping in touch with my academic pursuits at the Qld University studying English Literature. 

I gave up my career as Special Needs Tutor at the end of 2014...but last year I was asked to help Tutor two my great-grand-sons ...and we've made some good progress. I would like to spend more time on my writing and artwork and share with you some of my personal stories including my life as a student of Prem Rawat.

  I’ll be 78 in Feb 2023...unthinkable, truly! I look at others around my age, and I am concerned...how will this physical body last the TIME to fulfill every dream I have?   And yet I feel like my life is just beginning, each new day a dawning of a new experience, a new opportunity, new lessons, a new time. The Mirror

I use a mirror to see myself - a camera to take pictures of all my life experiences and of other people's experiences.  A notebook to write down all the events of my life - and finally through the arts to express my longing for love and fulfillment. This aging process is challenging, pressing, losing the will to plan ahead, sometimes empty, friends leave us and depart, and we are left with the present moment of our lives...memories that seem to stay on forever, wrongdoings, precious moments, a string of memories that keep us awake at night. I've come to the Sunshine Coast to take control, to mark time, to be present. When I am near the ocean, I feel that. Nothing is important, just to breathe the sea air, feel that volatile wind,  touch the sand with the souls of your feet, and the merging with the water - feeling our ancestral fish-fins take us deeper into an embryonic fluid that feels like home. Ipswich for me was a town that reminded me of my days in Amsterdam as a teenager...

The Dance of Life

   "The Poet/Artist brings to those who are unaware, imprisoned in their not-knowing, a realisation, a vision of the boundless beauty and reality of the natural world."  (by Pablo Neruda) Just something I read during my holidays with my family - that inspired me. I love being involved with my art and writing. H a ve written a lot of poetry in my time and would like to eventually compose a book of Poems with some of my own illustrations. Whilst I don't have the spare time just yet, I might include some of my poems in this RAMBLING story of mine. I certainly feel that when I'm involved in this process of making art or writing, that I am experiencing a different part of myself, more reflective, le ss reactive, more forgiving.  I've also been very interested in the Healing, Writing and Art Workshops, and how they can benefit those who are suffering, mentally, physically or spiritually.
